چکیده

Within a minimal extension of the SM in 4 + 1 dimensions, we study how Kaluza Klein excitations of the SM gauge bosons affect the electroweak precision observables. Asymmetries in Z decays provide the dominant bound on the compactification scale M of the extra dimension. If the higgs is so light that will be discovered at LEP2, we find the following 95%C.L. bounds: M > 3.5TeV (if the higgs lives in the extra dimension) and M > 4.3TeV (if the higgs is confined to our 4 dimensions). In the second case Kaluza Klein modes give ‘universal’ corrections and a good fit of precision data can be obtained with an heavier higgs (up to 500GeV) and with a smaller M > 3.4TeV.

Electroweak and Flavor Physics in Extensions of the Standard Model with Large Extra Dimensions ∗

We study the implications of extra dimensions of size R ∼ 1/TeV on electroweak and flavor physics due to the presence of Kaluza-Klein excitations of the SM gauge-bosons. We consider several scenarios with the SM fermions either living in the bulk or being localized at different points of an extra dimension. Global fits to electroweak observables provide lower bounds on 1/R, which are genericall...

Effects of SM Kaluza-Klein excitations on electroweak observables

The presence of an extra dimension of size R ≈ TeV−1 introduces a tower of KaluzaKlein gauge boson excitations that affects the standard model (SM) relations between electroweak observables. The mixing of theW and Z bosons with their excitations changes their masses and couplings to fermions. This effect depends on the Higgs field, which may live in the bulk of the extra dimension, on its bound...

Ultraviolet dependence of Kaluza-Klein effects on electroweak observables

In extensions of the standard model (SM) with d extra dimensions at the TeV scale the virtual exchange of Kaluza-Klein (KK) excitations of the gauge bosons gives contributions that change the SM relations between electroweak observables. These corrections are finite only for d = 1; for d ≥ 2 the infinite tower of KK modes gives a divergent contribution that has to be regularized introducing a c...

Looking For TeV-Scale Strings and Extra-Dimensions

In contrast to the old heterotic string case, the (weakly coupled) type I brane framework allows to have all, part or none of the standard model gauge group factors propagating in large extra–dimensions of TeV size. We investigate the main experimental signatures of these possibilities, related to the production of Kaluza-Klein excitations of gluons and electroweak gauge bosons. A discovery thr...

Can Extra Dimensions Accessible to the Sm Explain the Recent Measurement of Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon?

We investigate whether models with flat extra dimensions in which SM fields propagate can give a significant contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon (MMM). In models with only SM gauge and Higgs fields in the bulk, the contribution to the MMM from Kaluza-Klein (KK) excitations of gauge bosons is very small. This is due to the constraint on the size of the extra dimensions from...
